• timing question for a friend

I have a friend wondering what to do with his timing for his setup. Here is his message:

" i am running around a 115 wet shot now on my 383 stroker but its already built to low compression 8.45 in hopes of a couple turbos this winter now im not to affraid of detonation with such low compression on that larg of a motor.. 115 isnt going to add alot to the compression stroke to hurt it... but should i crank my timing back a little being that it is still boosting it or should it be fine were its set now? im running just an hei distributor on it now so i have no way to control the timing advance as of yet i do have an old msd setup but i never really liked it but i can adjust timing for nos with that just dont want to unless i absolutly have to."

What you guys think he should do? I was thinking that he would be fine on stock timing, but then again his compression is lower so I don't know exactly. Any ideas?

Rule of thumb, every 50 HP yank 1 degree of timing.

BUT... he has a low compression motor.... but to be safe... stick w/ above rule
