  • Code P0300

Well, my car pretty much decided to s*** a brick on me today. I got an OBDII reader, and it's throwing P0300 Random/Multicylinder Misfire. Does anyone know the most common cause of this on 3800s? It says possibly spark plugs/wires, coil packs, O2 sensor, or cam position sensor. Thanks.

I threw that code when I had a clogged cat once, but it wouldnt hurt to do the plugs and wires if you havent in awhile.

I'm actually really pissed at myself. I had that thought, cut out the cat, started it up and it kept doing the same thing. So now I have a gheto-patched exhaust AND a bad coil (possibly).:spank:

Replaced ALL the coils (i would have gone through the motions either way), and the engine seems to be running a LOT smoother, and no more SES light. Got the cat back on (welding it up tomorrow) and should be ready to roll in the morning... *fingers crossed*

Well, wasn't the coils, but at least I don't have to worry about those for a while now... ALSO wasn't the cam position sensor. But it WAS the ignition control module. That little $140 part that the coils bolt on to wasn't sending a signal to the 4/1 coil and therefore was missing LIKE CRAZY. Now it's fixed, purring like a kitten once again, I got to play with a $2,000 SnapOn OBDII scanner, and all that's left to do is weld my cat back on.

          Game over.
