ive been searching and have not found any thing that made sense on finding the pinion angle and where it should be for daily driving and road racing. im getting a vibration when cruising at 75-80 but if i put load on the car i don't get the vibration. i just want to make sure it is correct before i take a road trip to St. louis so i woun't have any problems. i have the torque arm relocation done that replaces the trans mount. the transmission position should have not changed but i want to compare both angles( on transmission side and pinion side). if anyone on here knows any info that im looking for please post up i would really like to know.

Re: how do you find pinion angle?
The way I found mine is putting a angle finder on the bottom of the rear end. I have mine at -2 degrees and its about perfect for an auto.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake
96' Camaro M5 to A4 conversion, alot of mods . GT35R Turbo full suspension. Built engine

Re: how do you find pinion angle?
Keep in mind that the angle which is important from a noise and vibration standpoint is not the angle between the pinion and horizontal but between the pinion and the driveshaft Same is true up front...you want to know the angle between the transmission output shaft and the driveshaft.
Those two angles must be equal and between 0.5° and 3.0° to be vibration free.
Also, make sure the vibration you have is not a result of imbalance.
Typically, first order vibration will be imbalance and second order vibration will be angles.

Re: how do you find pinion angle?
I put my angle-finder on the flat portion of the torque arm mount and then on the DS itself. This is my current set up. Then again, I have some strange vibration, but only under extreamily light load (just enough throttle to keep the torque converter from disengaging).
