• Front brake question..

How hard is it to replace the front brake rotors and pads? My rotors are warped all to hell and I'm planning on buying aftermarket models here in the next couple of weeks. Also, should I drain/fill the brake system? I've had the car for over 2 years now and it's never been done..

Changing rotors and pads isn't difficult.. It's about the only thing I can do on my car and clean my air filter

After you have the car jacked up and the wheel(s) off, remove the two bolts from the back of the calipers and lift off. The rotor comes right off. Remove the master cylinder cap and slowly compress the hydraulic piston back on the inside of the caliper, re-install new pads, re-bolt.

www.installuniversity.com should point you in the right direction.

The job itself is not hard if you don't mind working with a ratchet really

Make sure that you can get ahold of the caliper bracket bolts and the caliper pins. I sheared one of the caliper pin bolts (because of a typo in the service manual, of all places), and according to the service manual, the caliper bracket bolts are torque-to-spec, and so are supposed to be replaced each time they are removed.
In any case, the GM dealerships in town don't normally stock either part, and neither did any of the parts shops in town. Also, the bracket bolts are an odd size and hardness, so none of the import shops carried them either (they're metric).
I got lucky and one store managed to find some caliper pins at another location and have them trucked up the same day, and I ended up reusing the bracket mounting bolts.
