• Alignment Problem?

The tread wear on my tires is very unusual. I've had these tires on for a long time, so they're really getting bald.

The two front tires wear the tread down on the sides. They are completely smoothed over about the first 1 and a half inches into the tire. The center tread lines on the front tires are still pretty deep.

On the back tires, the sides still look very good..but the center tread lines are pretty much gone. It seems the front and rear tires have the opposite wear affect.

Is this caused by an alignment problem,,or tire pressure? I always monitor tire pressure,,and keep all tires in the low 30 PSI area. I'm eventually going to be getting new tires, but I don't want the same problems.

You could afford to run them at around 35, and some advocate even higher ...

BUT -- you have a classic classic textbook alignment problem, and I'm sorry to hear that it chewed through tires. I don't know wtf you did to mess up 4 whole tires, but sheesh! If you can't do alignment stuff yoruself (you can do toe yourself with a few items (two tiles, grease, tools), but caster and camber are more of a challenge for the home mechanic)

Replace these tires, and when you do, go invest the $50 into a nice alignment at an EXPERIENCED AND RECCOOMMENDED SHOP! Not Jiffy Lube. Good luck!
