• ABS Inop. light...

Recently my ABS Inoperable light keeps coming on. THe wierd thing is that I'll turn off the car when this happens and restart and it will go away. I don't seem to be having any problems with braking, and I'm not low on fluid or anything, so I don't know what I should do. Can anyone tell me what this light could indicate?

Sometime it may come on if your 3rd break light is out, or possibly a sensor starting to malfunction.

Actually I think I can help. I have the same exact problem as you and recently got my car scanned at AutoZone it came up with the code 1625. Which could be a few things really but one of them was that theres some kind of sensor that detects a speed in your wheels and whats happening is it's not picking up a part of it so it's causing the ABS Inop light to come on. Some mornings when I start up the car when it was really cold out it would come on but like you said you just turn it off and it goes away. One day i was driving though i had to brake really hard and my car goes sliding down the road, so it's not too safe. Unfortunatley nobody on this board can help me to correct this situation with the sensors, i have no clue about them. So i'm going to look at it today. If your SES light is on go to autozone and get it checked, you might have the same problem. That or it could be something different. Hope I could help.

I've been doing some research into the problem. I heard that it can mean you might have a weak alternator or battery. Both checked out fine. Brake lights are all working. Checked fuse box and everything seems normal. I guess i'll get a code scan and see if that 1625 thingy comes up. By the way my Low Trac light is working fine. It only comes on when I have low traction I'll keep everyone updated

I found another possible cause, and this worked for me.

While visually inspecting the wiring to the right front wheel sensor, I noticed that the bundle had some sort of foil wrap on it. Hmmm... noise susceptibility. Then I noticed that the bundle was routed precariously close to the #6 spark plug wire.

I took the electrical engineer's way out and just slightly rerouted the sensor bundle, and used a zip tie to hold it away from the plug wires. There is at least a three inch gap now, and lo-and-behold, problem solved. No more ABS INOP light.

I fixed with a 1 cent zip tie what most garages would have charged big bucks to troubleshoot and repair.

Check the routing of those wires.
