Bilstein HDs are probably what you're going to hear about most commonly - I installed them, and I love them! Much better handling when compared to the crap stock shocks...

If you're looking for all out performance, then the Bilsteins are the way to go. However, when I replaced mine (@140,000 miles), I was a little light in the wallet, so the best bang for the buck has to be the Z28/TA OE take offs that SLPonline sells. $75 shipped for all 4 corners!!
The only other thing I'll say is that the 4th gen F-bodies have got to be the biggest pain in the ___ to change shocks. To change the rears, half the interior needs to come out (top bolts are under the rear capet behind the rear seat back), and you have to separate a ball joint to get the fronts out. You'll also need a strut style spring compressor kit for the fronts. If you're local parts store has a loaner tool program (Autozone), you can usually get them that way and not have to buy a set. The only other thing you really need is plenty of time so you don't rush through something as critical as suspension work.
