Just wondering what you think of Delphi shocks?

The stock shocks on F-bodies are worn out shortly after the car rolls off the trailer at the dealership.

For stock suspension cars, either Bilstein HD or the KYB GR2 depending on how much you like corners.

A bit of an overstatement. I replaced my stock shocks at 35,000 miles. By my standards they were worn out, by most peoples standards, they weren't.

I replaced them with Z28 takeoffs from SLP ($20 for four). They seem to be very decent. I've now got about 10,000 miles on them.

      Bilsteins should last considerably longer.

That is just about what happended with Project Fast Victor Six, which I am managing for "Camaro Performers" magazine.

We scrapped the stock shocks and put Bilsteins on very early in the project. They've been on there for about 15,000 miles and the improvement in ride-and-handing was significant.

They're just cheap shocks is all. So replacing them at any time will be an improvement..

How many miles were on the stock shocks?

I've always wondered what part of the improvement of Bilsteins is simply replacing worn out shocks. When I put on the GM replacements (V8, tho) at 35K miles the improvement in ride and handling was significant. With 100K miles on stock shocks I imagine it would be very substantial improvement.

It's pretty much intellectual curiousity. Putting on new shocks is costly, either in terms of dollars or effort or both. It's silly to save a few bucks on the parts. My case was unusual. My $20 takeoffs saved me about $300. I only put about 8K/year on the car .

                  Re: Are these good shocks

We ran the stock shocks 43712 miles and they were pretty much worn out, however, I should add that the base shocks on a Camaro are pretty weak-suck as far a the damping one expects from a performance car, so we were starting with crummy shocks before wear even began.

Best stock shock investment if you plan on keeping the car is a Bilstein HD upgrade. I did mine at 30K and never looked back once. My stocks werent worn out entirely, but lets just say Im not as scared of speedbumps anymore.
