  • SLP takeoff shocks installed!

    So, I was in the market looking for new shocks last couple of months. I didn't want something that will make my ride harsh (like Bilstein or kyb). I wanted something smooth as the stock but a little bit better handling. I didn't want to pay 330+ for a set of shocks, since I am not gonna keep this car forever. I was looking around for SLP takeoff shocks. Finally, I found some on the Ls1tech.com. It wasn't a great deal, but was a good deal. Shocks were brand new, not a scratch on it.

    Today, my mechanic installed the shocks. Wow, this is exactly what I wanted! It's very smooth on normal roads yet handles better than the v6 stockers. My car handles really nice. It absorbs the bump really good. I don't know if it's related or not, I can turn better (while at stop or moving). THIS should've came stock with our cars but oh well.

    SLP Takeoff shocks = $140
    Installation = $80
    A way better handling car than the stock, Priceless :D

    It's getting harder to find a set of take offs now these days, but if you do they can be a great replacements for our crappy v6 shocks. They are cheaper than other aftermarket and offer you a good handling. :tup:

    Good to hear you found what you were looking for at a reasonable price.

    The only thing I have to say is, I'd like to meet the mechanic who installed 4 shocks for that price. How quick did he do it in?

        Well, the rears were pretty quick. I would say about half an hour. But the fronts were time consuming. I gave them my car around 1 pm and they finished around 4:20ish. Actually, he is my family mechanic. All our cars go to his garage. I went up to him (chief mechanic) two weeks ago and asked him how much he will charge to do shocks(note that, I said shocks)? he said $80. But when he started doing the job, it took him about 3.5 hours. Spring compressing is a bit*h. I was embarrassed and asked him to charge what he thinks is reasonable. But he still charged me $80 bucks. I was really glad. I think being a student, he gives me good considering prices. I gave the two mechanics that work on my car $5 tips to each. So, it was an all around "happy" experience.
