  • Which tires should i buy?

My tires are almost getting bald. I don't think I can drive longer. So, I am looking for cheap tires. I found couple different models. I am not sure which one is better

    1. COOPER LIFELINERS TOURING SLE 215-65-16 SPEED RATING 98T

    or

    2. BRIDGESTONE TIRES TURANZA EL42 RUN FLAT TIRES 205-55-16 SPEED RATING 91H.

Please note, I really don't care about making 60 MPH turns. All I am looking for in tire is something thats comfortable and good grip in rain. Help me choose.

Btw, I have stock 16" 5 spoke rims. I believe the stock tire size is 235/55/16

    Thanks

Did you check the reviews on tirerack? You could get some good info there.

Unless you are Y87. Then it is 235.

Kala, have you checked out tireracks ratings for each tire yet? I don't have experience with either so I can't comment.

Edit: You beat me to it.

Kala... if you let me paint your car like the rainbow up there, I'll buy the paint!

I've used Cooper tires before on my truck. I liked 'em.

            I do have y87 :naughty:

Ok, I forgot to mention in the original post that I saw these two from ebay. Local seller and both set has about 20k miles. From those two, which one will be the best for my car? Will I face any problem because of their size?

205/55 will be too small, your speedo will read high and it might look a little funny. I have 205/70 on 15's. 205/60 might do it if you want tires that skinny. Personally I'd go for the BFGoodrich G-force Sport in 245/50R16. they were $90 a pop and were actually great in the rain.

It depends on the rims that came on the car. The hubcap-style wheels I believe are 16x7.5 and the alloy rims most of us have are 16x8. The alloys I believe all came with 235/55R16 or 245/50R16, depending on the year. The hubcapped steelies came with 215/60R16.

oh wow..PLEASE don't get 215/65s. You would HATE them. the sidewall on my 225/60s are fugly, i can't imagine more. I would get at least 225s also, 215s are way skinny and would look wierd.

                    check out this deal:
                    http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=0

245/50/16, $61 per tire and a $40 rebate if you get 4. Has decent reveiws too.

I had some Cooper Cobra something or others and one of them desenegrated going down highway at about 80MPH with 15-20k on them. I'll never own Cooper tires again.

Ditto on hating Cooper Cobras. They were on my car when I bought it. They didn't desenegrate on me, but they sucked in pretty much every way possible. I could spin them into 3rd.

I had cooper lifeliner pro's on my neon and I could do 3rd gear burnouts too.
