Will 02' Calipers work on my 96'??? I'm thinking of ugrading from 1 piston to "at least" 2, and I'm not sure if I want to break the bank on a serious brake system. (I already have decent rotors.) Any idea on the cost of just the calipers?

As far as I know, the newer brakes were 2 piston. The calipers on my 02' are bigger and the car stops a hell of a lot better than the 96' does. I have aftermarket rotors too, but they are just the power slot ones. I'd like a whole new brake system. But don't want to break the bank and spend like 2 or 3 grand. So I'll have to investigate this some more. I'll call the chevy dealership later this week.

get ls1 brakes, work wonders and will fit if you replace the lines and rotors pads etc

V6 and LS-1 brakes are the same for 98+. The rears are single piston and the fronts are two.

Did you think about doing the C5 upgrade? I don't know what wheels are on your 96, but it would be a nice improvement and oddly enough the pads and rotors are generally cheaper.

I have this mod. You have to use a 98+ spindle to use the 98+ calipers. The problem is the brake lines. I have the p/n on my web site for custom lines. The 93-97 does not fit right, neither does the 98+. You will need new rotors. And I have the stock 96 rear calipers.

There is a company that makes brackets so people can use C5 corvette calipers. You have to have wheels with enough offset to clear them and you will no longer be able to use your stock spare tire.

Sounds like something I might be interested in doing down the road sometime.

The C5 brakes aren't all that. I had them on my C5, and currently on my GTO. They get the job done, but aren't some magical upgrade over 98-02 brakes. Shirl, you need more than calipers to run the LS1 body brakes. Check ebay, they sell conversion kits. Also, throw those junk powerslot rotors in the garbage. All you're doing with those is eating pads and creating way more dust.

What he said. I sent my upgraded and powder coated parts with mine. Not sure if it's been installed yet. I think it's still being beaten like a red headed child :spank:

Whose got a grudge against me? My post was once again deleted. The first one was very helpful and researched, why was it deleted?

Anyway, i've read that the C5 brakes are quite an easy swap out, for the front anyway. I believe it was basically plug and play with the calipers, and that would be a more worthy upgrade than to the 98-02 brakes i think.
