  • Tight steering package.

I forget the code for it, but does anyone else here have the tight steering package? I drove a friends Camaro that didn't have it and I hated it. It drove like a truck. Mine has it. Now that I've driven a car with that, there's no going back.

I'm going to take a guess and say Y87 package.

      No, this isn't Y87. I'd remember that. I think it's F41.

the code for the tighter ratio is not Y87, but the Y87 package includes the tighter ratio steering.

do you have Y87? I don't know that it was available as an option by itself.

There is no RPO code for the quick ratio steering rack that came stock on the V8, and was part of the Y87 package on V6's.

F41 is the RPO code for the V6 stock suspension.

I was going by what it says it the Tech Data base under Y87 package and it lists the options. Beat me to it Rob, by one minute.

Was it? Ok then. I don't know. Well I drive a 93 3.4 and my friend drives a 94 3.4. Mine has much tighter steering than his.

Do you mean the 14:4:1 Steering, if so then its in the Y87's don't know the code though.

I don't know b/c I don't know the ratio of my steering, but I know it's a hell of a lot tighter than my friend's Camaro. And I don't have Y87. When I go to make a right turn, I turn the wheel just past half of one complete revolution to make the turn.

the V8 steering rack wasn't available in 93 anyway. Your friend could just have worn steering parts or the previous owner may have done something on it.

Hmm...His steering wasn't worn. If it was, it was only slight. Maybe a previous owner did do something to it. How do I figure out my steering ratio?

I already said - THERE IS NO RPO CODE!

I want this.. It takes me like 2 1/2 rotations to turn the wheels... it sucks.
