When the ABS INOP light comes on to tell you that the spoiler light is out, does it actually disable the ABS system? Or is it just the light? It seems like an obvious answer, but I'd like to know for sure, as my ABS doesn't seem to be functioning, and my spoiler light is "out."
1996, and I think you're right, it's only 96 and below. I don't believe the 97+ dash even has an ABS INOP light.
I'd like to think it disables the ABS system with the light comes on, though mine isn't on, but I'm pretty sure that's because it's burnt out.
I've had brake troubles since day one with my car, and at this point I've replaced every part of the brake system other than the hard lines and ABS module... I'd prefer not to replace that TOO.

97+ has the ABS inop light also
what kind of brake troubles are you having?
a messed up ABS module can make things crazy, since the brake fluid goes through there
Just crappy brakes. After replacing the master and booster, the pedal felt better, but when I crammed the pedal to the floor, the car still didn't feel like it wanted to stop too fast, plus it took tremendous force to get it down there. The 2 piston LS1 brakes plus ceramics and SS braided lines all around made the pedal feel great now, but when i jam it into the floor (as I did on my way home, hence the thread), the front wheels just lock up and slide. But I have my old spoiler with leds and a busted resister, so my ABS light would probably be on if the light wasn't burnt out in the dash. I'll probably pick my SS spoiler up tomorrow from paint (again) after class and put it on, which didn't set off the light, and maybe do another brake test.
I have a 96' Camaro, and i have found out that the ABS light is connected to EVERYTHING for the brakes.
I blew the brake light fuse (didnt know it at the time) and when the light ABS INOP light came on my brakes would lock up easily, so i was like dammit something else to repair on my car. Found out that my Brake lights didnt light up when i administered the brakes (found this out when i got stopped by a officer, but i still had running back lights when i had headlights on)
Found out the fuse was blown, replaced it, and my brake lights worked fine and my ABS worked properly without locking up the front tires.
Kinda crappy way to notify the driver that something isnt working right if you ask me.
~~ Adding to this thread, i have been getting a related problem, sometimes at random when driving around, my car will momentarily have a "brown out" it kills the radio and lights for a sec, then Pops on the ABS INOP light. (again brakes and braking lights dont work properly) I check the fuses and they arnt blown. But when i shut off the car and restart it, everything works perfectly fine. Any idea on this problem?
Yeah, I bled the ABS module, maybe 6 months ago, last time i worked on the brakes.. Not this last time when I put on the new lines and front brakes, but there is no reason why there would be any air in there as I only touched on the caliper ends of the hard lines. I could do that again but like i said, I see no reason why there would be air in there. Hopefully picking up the SS spoiler today, so I'll do another brake test with it on and see how things go.
Ghostboi's testimony makes me a little more confident that the spoiler light may be causing the problems.
Are there multiple (any) codes to be pulled from the ABS INOP light? the SES isn't on, so regardless, I don't think autozone could get it. Maybe HP tuners might recognize it?
Haven’t done anything on the Camaro, but put LEDs on my truck headlights . And my oil pressure sensor went out on the truck so going to fix that this...
