I'm still negociating a deal to revise the series and post it to a Camaro-related web site. Right now it's a 50/50 chance it will work out.

I only work on one V6 F-car and that's the one in the magazine series. It's an 01, manual. The engine has DeGroff big-valve ported heads, Comp Cam and valve train, Dawson Headers, Extrude-Honed intake, Flowmaster catback, Z-Industries reprogramming, nitrous oxide injection by Nitrous Supply and a hell of a lot of other small stuff.
So far, on the chassis dyno at Westech, we made 220 rwhp on the motor and that's passing the CA Smog Check without disabling any DTCs in the calibration. With spray, we made 291 hp.
I'll admit that the 220 rwhp@5650 rpm figure is a bit misleading as we got that with 1.8 rockers which put the engine in valve float above 5650 rpm. We took the rockers off because of the obvious negative effect valve float has on reliability/durability. With the stock 1.6es, the engine makes 213 rwhp at 5800 rpm and pulls to a 6200 rpm rev limit. Actually, it will go to 6500 but there's little sense in that as the intake runner length and plenum volume has the motor pretty much all done by 6000.
I had a long talk with Billy Godbold at Comp on Friday and the executive summary is: we made a mistake in trying to combine an aftermarket cam having an aggressive profile with 1.8 rockers. Billy says that's always a recipe for valve float and it's not a spring pressure issue, it's a problem with mass on the vavle side.
We either need to keep the 1.8s but reduce mass on the valve side (ie: titanium valves--which ain't gonna happen), accept less rpm (not even) or go to a slightly different cam profile and 1.6 rockers. The latter is probably the way we'll go if we take the series past Pt 6. We need to be careful, though, as intake duration and overlap plays a big part in passing the Smog Check.
Pt 5 of the series was in the September issue of Camaro Performers and Pt 6 will be in the 1/07 issue. The other four parts were in, November 05, January, March and May of this year.
