its not age discrimination man...its store policy based on provincial law. Its illegal for them to sell to you when you enter the store with minors...and if they did, they could be held liable. You can take up your complaint with head office, but you're just wasting your time. If you really want to change this start up a grassroots political movement or lobby group. The headoffice will tell you that the store employees have the right to ask your friends for ID if you are purchasing alcohol and they are with you and to deny you the alcohol. Like someone else said, next time you'll have to leave your friends in the car and then everyone's happy.

Well unless that policy says the same thing for a 30-40 year old entering the store with minors, that policy is pretty f'n stupid.
If the same thing were to happen to older adults when they go, I wouldnt be as pissed...I'd still think its dumb though.
But the fact of the matter is, this doesnt happen to 30-40 year olds...so I wanna know what the difference between me going in with a minor is and what a 30-40 year old going in with a minor is...
and as far as leaving my buddies in the car...we were downtown headed home after a class....this is right by the subway entrance, which we needed to take to get home.... no one believed this to be an issue, or they would have waited outside.
also Mike, your taking law... they say this policy comes from the liquer control act....I've briefly read through the act pertaining to this and I find no mention of such a thing....

well you make a good point about older ppl who come in with underagers, but I would assume there is some sort of exception with regards to parents and their children or children under their supervsion. I didn't take law, I have an MA in criminology which is much different, so I'm really not familiar with the details of the law...I just know its there. I agree with you that it sucks, and it probably goes against your charter rights, but your only way to defeat it is by filing a law suit, spending tons on lawyer fees and possibly taking this all the way to the Supreme Court...complaining to store management or headoffice will get you no where as they're only following the law, whether its fair or not.
No one ever said that life itself is fair. Point is, go broke fighting for what you feel is right, or just have the friends wait in the car. Waiting in the car seems like the cheaper, friendlier counter-person option. Don't let this ruin a whole day that could be great. Not worth the frustration.

^ Thanks , I didn't feel like typing it all. I thought ATF was pretty common like FBI, CIA , and NSA.

From now on just go by yourself or with friends who are all legal drinking age. I can see where you're coming from, but I think the store has the right to refuse you.

I don't see why this is such a big issue. Just say "ok, thanks anyway" and go somewhere else.
Because in Canada you can only buy Beer or any alchohol in 2 places, the LCBO and The Beer Store, and they each have items that are specific to their stores. Its nothing like the US where every corner store and gas station has booze!
Not much going on, replaced my Kenwood double din stereo with a Pioneer double din, the Kenwood had problems. Then replaced my power inverter for my reverse...
