  • Doing the battery in the trunk again

    http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/attach...achmentid=8223

    Seems like a great diagram.

I tried it in the past and ran into starting issues.

I was told that when I had it in the trunk I have pulled a tire.

Spinning to a 1.58........ looking for traction!

Where are you planning on putting the cut-off switch? A tasteful install of the switch is the only thing that's kept me from doing this already.

I have done this in the past so I have a simple hole drilled into my bumper on the passenger side.

You can do a nice install by drilling into the license plate and mounting a small switch there.

Go to www.ls1tech.com drag racing section for nice pic's

I'll get some pic's of the step by step on my bird

Its less weight on the nose...

were your connections all good last time james?

was it just the length of the wire that killed it?

I had a little problem with my stock battery when I relocated, but when I swapped in the optima, it worked out great, no more problems. Im running the TAYLOR battery relocation kit. This was on the TA too...

For this to be legal at the track... don't you have to have a switch on the outside of the car?

Yes- a cutoff switch must be located on the rear of the car and clearly labeled. The switch must not only cut power to the battery, but kill the car as well. Also, since there is no firewall between the battery and the driver, the battery must be in a sealed box, vented to the outside of the car.

Thats what I thought... I am not sure how many people are willing to do that on a car they drive all the time.

The switch is what holds most people back. I don't mind it at all, as long as I can do it tastefully. As soon as I figure a good and clean way to place the cutoff switch, my battery will be relocated.

I have never understood the idea behind battery relocation. Could someone enlighten me?

When racing... would you rather have weight on the front tires or right over the rear tires?
