totall shot in the dark. my buddy just finished one and its only going to cost him 2 grand at most. he bought a wrecked t/a, took the motor, tranny, rear, gas tank and parted out the rest, along with the v6 and tranny.

if you spend 7 grand on a ls1 swap your retarded.

        my moneys on 8...

the problem with buying just the engine now, is that you are going to need many more of the parts listed by others above. Searching those down later is going to cost you. You're better off figuring out what you need now, and pulling it all out of the car at once, just my $0.02

ls1 is more like 80lbs heavyer than our v6's. yes, ls1's are alum. block.

front springs are stiffer for said weight, sway bars are bigger front and rear.

stock v6 springs would be OK, but personally id change them.

          gas tanks/fuel lines are different.

4-5 grand is a good guess.

again, if you pay 8 grand for a engine swap you have serious mental issues, seek help.

you dont need that much, pretty much everything is listed in this thread, not to mention 900 other threads on this topic.

with 8 grand you can sell your v6 and buy a f-body with a ls1 in it already.

Well put. THe problem isn't jsut the srping load, but we have different sway bars, along with different shocks. You need to have a heavier rated suspension to compensate for teh extra weight. That's why different companies make different suspension setups for the v6 and ls1 vehicles. Shoot, some companies make different suspensions specifically for lt1s too (I only know of one). My next post is the most important post for this guy on here:

exactly, thats the only way to do it for a reasonable cost.

i belive you have to be a "dealer" to bid on anything on that site.

all my friend did was go to a wrecked car lot, and have them buy the car for him. i think they wanted like $100 or something to bid on it for him.

Nope you don't have to be a dealer on this site. Thsi company is serving as a dealership for oyu. All you have to do is put down 10% of the cost and then if they win it for you, pay the rest. They only charge $55 and that's for title and documentation fees
