    Re: Guess that sound !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well, im doing a r&r of the v-6, so i dont know about all the swapping stuff. thats tom's department.

as for the parts, best thing to do is find a good trustworthy auto recycler and just pay what they are asking. i got ripped off from a "salvage" yard, said they had a 30 day warranty on leaky engines, and the one they sold me was leaking, and they wouldnt replace it.

Did you use some sort of dolly underneath the k-member/drivetrain assembly to slide the drivetrain out? Did you slide it out towards the drivers side wheel well, like how its shown sitting next to the car? Any other tips on removal/install proceedures?

        Thanks,
        John
Yes used a furniture dolly. Its not easy to wheel around but its possible. slide it out the driver side. My car is a little harder since the ground effects make it lower. Make sure to have a helper to watch everything when you start lifting the car.

Maybe I missed it but how long did this take you from removal of engine to being able to drive it (regardless of further tuning like you said)?

Also how much have you spent so far roughly and how hard would you rate this swap depending on ones mechanically ability? Definitely going to have to keep in touch with you lol.
It took me about a month. I got the new, cleaned it up, painted pieces, waited for parts etc. Swap is not too bad. I am sure you will run into a few snags but nothing that cant be fixed.

          Re: Guess that sound !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If all goes as planned i will be ordering all the stuff for my LS1 swap bout tuesday or so. I decided i liked my car to much to sell it or trade it in. and i don't want to waste time and money having my 3.8 rebuilt just to be back in the same boat i was before, wanting to go faster. I'm so excited! :excited:
I'm gonna get all my stuff from Trans Am Creations down in FL. Now all i have to do is wait.

A 98 is pretty easy only if you use the 98 LS1 harness and PCM. If you want the added tune ability of the 99 and up LS1 PCM it can get a bit harder.
