ok, so stevethepirate (stevey d) is a pimp. he's sendin me 2 kicker compvr 12" subs. i went out the other day and bought 2 kicker zx300.1 amps (it was cheaper than 1 two channel amp). so i've never done a sub hookup b4, and i need to know whatsup. i know i need a box, but i gotta figure out where the hell i can tastefully put 2 subs and 2 amps and still leave room 4 another amp, should i decide my speakers need a boost. I know i'll need a big, fat wire running from the battery to each amp a capacitor in the circuit and rca's from the head unit to the amps as well as the wiring for the remote sub controls. is there anything else I need? where 2 go 4 a decent, cheap box?

Few questions first... What is the model name of the subs? Are they 2ohm or 4ohm? Those amps might underpower the subs a tad, but you should still be fine.

As for the box, do you have T-tops? Do you care if they are under the rear window?

For wiring, this should be good enough for you: http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDe...prodID=KOL-AK4

You don't need a cap, run the power wire on the passenger side through the rubber gromet under the PCM, and the RCAs on the driver's side. I'm assuming you have an aftermarket head unit?

they're 4 ohms... i talked about it for like a half hour w/ the guys at the shop. i even brought the specs sheet w/ me for them to look at so i think i'll be good.
meh, i know i dont NEED a cap but its always a good idea to have one to take some of the strain off the alternator.
the only thing that worries me about running that HUGE wire is e/m interference. i just dont want my radio going to crap or the PCM getting messed up cuz of the power i'm gonna be sending to the trunk.
I got a JVC head unit w/ HD radio and an assload of sound damper ready.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but you may have made an error buying the two amps vice a zx750.1 for example. For starters, the zx300.1 makes 300WRMS AT 2 OHMS. You're planning to run them at 4 each..... so, once again, we have to thank one of those big box stores for not knowing what the hell they're doing. Way to just sell whatever you're willing to buy. I would SERIOUSLY consider returning those amps for a ZX750.1 which would be run at 2 ohms for full power. Not to mention you won't have the increased footprint of two amps, one less power/ground wire to deal with, one less pair of RCAs to deal with, and no need to match the gains/crossover perfectly because the subs are in the same box but powered by seperate amps. (Bet the big box store didn't tell you about that now did they?) Get the ZX750.1 and thank me in the form of cash. :D

I would have probably not bought a kicker amp seeing as how they are so overpriced it isnt even funny but oh well to each his own.

personally 4 subs in a camaro is way overkill. i have two rocksford fosgate p1s and they are way more than i need.

price is not the factor, it's about quality kicker makes some of the best amp and sub in market(in my opinion and other people in car audio).

He's only got 2 subs. He went and bought 2 amps, one for each sub. We're telling him to return them and get 1 amp to run both of them. I too have the P1's, and they do hit nicely. In my custom box (like 1.19 cu ft per sub), they give me headaches with the gain 1/4 up, bass boost all the way down, bass on the HU turned all the way down, treble turned all the way up, and volume at 35/50. I've got a RF Punch 325.1 running them and a JVC KD-S10 HU (soon to be replaced by a Kenwood or Blaupunkt).

                  Re: subs r comin in!

I just kept it Kicker because I'm sure he bought them from Best Buy or Circuit City. Not a whole whole lot to choose from at those stores when it comes to high quality. Kicker and Alpine are decent. Far from "some of the best amp and sub in market" ..... :poke:..... but decent. You'll easily be happy with their performance.

To sum up my previous post.

One 750.1 = 750WRMS total and one amp and amp signal to connect

                  or

Two 300.1's = 300WRMS total and an added PITA to install

You decide if its worth the money difference.

As for the box, you have t-tops?

I'm gonna have to disagree with you.

They are good amps but for their price you could get something just as good. There are a lot better amps out there for the price. Just because it doesnt cost $400 at Circuit City doesnt mean its total junk.

$200 for 300watts rms at 2ohms? Pfff...I gave less than that for my Viper that gives me 600rms at 1 ohm and the quality is just as good if not better than Kicker.

when i think of quality sound, i do not think of kicker...

                        kicker SPL ftw (solo-x)

                        kicker SQ FTL

decent subs, but there is much better out there for less

Ya, Kickers usually are pure SPL (Sound Pressure Level). It'll hit hard and shake the glass and your innards, but sound like **** while doing it.
