i really need some feedback on this picture.... am i going to have enough clearance with the steering shaft? im pretty worried about it, i got the headers off ebay, and they were homemade. on the passenger side. it looks like i will have to remove the idler pulley, that shouldn't be a problem should it?
that steering knuckle is going to swivel. You may be able to get away with it. Steering knuckle rubs my pacesetters a very little bit, even after grinding down on the knuckle they still rub a very little bit. You should be fine though, no biggie i wouldnt think.
can i just say its great to see so many people on the forum doing FI builds on their cars AND taking pictures of it, whoever is modding/in charge of this section should sticky this or else.....

If you do have clearance issues you could try a steering shaft from a LS1 f-body. You can find them for about $20, and they are supposed to offer more clearance.
now that i'm feeling alright about the driver side, i decided to look more at the passenger side. and bad news bears, it looks like it's a no a/c header.... so daamn... any ideas?
You can delete the pulley right there, maybe cut and reweld the headers so they come out straight.

thanx ssms. when i first looked at the header on that side.. i was like " no big deal, i can just get rid of that pulley" but i didn't stop to think that the belt would hafta come out further and be in the way. I am looking at either doing what you said and cutting off the collector and welding it on straight or... making my own.... either way is a little scary...making my own will be more time consuming than i like.... and chopping up these, i take the risk of ruining a perfectly good pair of headers (for someone who doesn't care about a/c)
I know living in AZ , I want my A/C so thats why I did mine the way I did, good luck on making it straight doesn't look too bad to do. The belt can be rerouted if need be.

Pffft you have dry heat!!!!
Summers here are way more brutal than AZ 100% humidity and 100° +
I definately thought about scrapping the pulley and rerouting the belts. But I couldn't see a way to reroute them. I'm definitely open for suggestions there. Because that would be the ideal way to do it IMO.
well i stared at the motor for a while. and i can't reroute the belts. so... i started chopping... and bending.... i really need to look at another camaro so i can check for clearance between the body and the a/c compressor.
