no im not saying that at all. but its not like a if you rev the civic up and dump its going to make it lauch like a mofo. sure it will help but its not going to be able to keep it in the powerband for a truely hard launch. as soon as you launch it the rpms will die.

let me try that again. the way you said it, it makes it sound like even though the civic is all top end power, all you have to do is rev it up and it will launch good and be fast out of the hole. but civics have such a narrow powerband. so even if you do rev the heck out of it and dump it, their still slow out of the hole. becuase as soon as it hooks the rpms will die and it will fall out of its peak power band and take a little more to get back it too it.

so all im saying is with a top end motor, revving it up and dumping it will help but it still not going to be as good as a low end torque engine.

I guess we are on a diff chapter here. All I am saying is if you have a high revving motor, you will need to rev high to get the best acceleration. No mention about whether it be 4k or 5500 or 6k, just HIGHER. That is the "default" way of thinking...No mention at all about low enders,,,,mmmkkaay? And what are u talking about falling off peak power from take off? Look at us, we rev it at 2k area, so when we hook, where are we? Certainly not at PEAK power...mmmkaay?

</font>
Read what you are responding to again.

ONE LAST TIME, let me crack out the crayons. If your Camaro is a peaky power plant, you would rev it up higher to take off from the light. Look at an S2000, how about a VR4 or WRX, how do they get such low times? They have no low end, so where is the torque in the rpm range? Do you expect them to rev it up to 1500 rpms at the light to take off to get the best times??
Sheesh

im not argueing about launching at higher rpms, everyone knows that. all im saying is civics dont make that much torque as it is. so your "default" way of thinking that you can just rev up a honda and expect it to lauch like a monster isnt always right. the civic si makes like 132 torque at 5000 rpm and 160hp at 6000 rpm. 132 torque aint much, esp that high in the rpm range. so if you rev it to the moon and launchit, by time it gets traction its not going to be anywhere near its peak power. and they only make real power in the vtech. so low in the rpms its prolly make half the torque.

the vr4 and wrx both have awd and turbo's pushing nearly 300 hp. while they might not have alot of low end torque. they can launch in the high rpms becuase they have so much traction due to their awd. the s2000 gets such good times cuz its got frickin 240 hp not 160 like a civic.

either way your camaro WILL beat the civic. especailly if it is a stock civic or with just a CAI. been there killed that so many times i dont even try anymore. its really not that hard to beat even more modified civics actually. and besides who really cares about all this stupid crap you people have posted? lambo just asked who would win... the end... later

If you are not talking at all about launching, then what the hell is this in response to? look below at what I was talking about...wow, yes! I was talking about launching. While you keep going off about peak power in which I already responded to. Obviously you didn't read it before responding.

This is not always true. most of the vtech engines have a very narrow power band. sure you can rev it up and dump it but it will still fall out of the peak power band </font>
And don't exagerate what I say. I said to get the best acceleration, get it straight. S2000 gets such good times cuz it has 240 "fricken" hp?? What kind of arguement is that? So it's ok to rev up the S2000 to get a better lauch, but not another peaky power plant with a lower redline??

Tell me, oh lord of how-to-accelerate, before you respond to anything answer this first:
If you have that 94 Civic EX, which area of RPM range would you launch at? low, mid, or upper? Where will you shift at? low, mid, or redline?

Make real hp in "the Vtech"???? Do you even know what VTEC is? Do you know it only makes roughly about 10 additional hp on that POS econobox?? What "real" hp are you talking about?

Traction? Peak power? I already responded to this. I'll stated it one more time:
If you launch your Fbody at ~2000 RPMs, by the time YOU get traction are you all of the sudden at your peak power?? No, you hook up and you continue climbing the RPMs, then you shift just shy of redline.

I'm not wasting my time on the stupidity of this argument anymore...OMG....go on and continue this thread without me if you feel defensive. I'm out.

like i said im not argueign launching at higher revs is the way to go. but the honda will not launch hard out of the hole due to its lack of torque. just cuz you think you can rev it up and it will not solve all of you lack of power problems.

since they are so good and all you have to do is rev them up and sidestep maybe you should go get one buddy

so yeah lets say i launch mine at 2k rpms when ever im hooked im not near my peak hp. but im very close to my peak torque.

I never said it launches hard, you 'tard, are you illiterate? I say if you want the best times. All at once now, "the best acceleration". Ok?? Is that understood?

Typical comeback. BTW, I did have one, my sister's. Why do you think I'm speaking on it's behalf. Duh.
And I beat several 3.4 Camaros and yes we were racing as it was my friend's friends. Launching at ~4 grand, or something if I recall. Launching that in my Camaro will just smoke up my tires.

so yeah lets say i launch mine at 2k rpms when ever im hooked im not near my peak hp. but im very close to my peak torque.
2 grand from the 4k peak torque. Let's see, launching the Civic at 4k, peak torque at 5200 rpm...do the math, it's even closer.
Even YOU said it don't have much torque. Think about it. And it's a peaky plant, so how else would you get the best acceleration?

Anything else, oh wise one?
