  • my starter grinds

when i go to start the car, the starter grinds for about a half second after the car is started.

does it every time... is it really that bad for it?

I mean, my 69 camaro has a stock starter that is turing 12.5:1 compression for 30 seconds at a time... and it still works perfectly

you most likely need a new starter. My stock starter did the same exact thing you expalined..it buzzed and once my car heated up real well and you shut it off and went to go start it again it wouldnt turn over...or even click like the battery was dead but you still had power for everything. I just got a new starter...it was 100$ for our cars and replaced the old one. Its a self do job its pretty easy. Ever since i put a brand new starter in it its ran great and no more problems. Hope this helps

Solenoid is going - not releasing properly. Easy to change.

The contacts are burned and pitted on your solenoid. Whats happening is each time you start your car they kinda welding them selfs together. Better get if fixed fast before the really stick together and dont let loose.
