the post above is correct. our tanks are V shaped and you cant judge your milage at half a tank. you have to burn a whole tank before you know how much gas you've used.

^????? loochy, what do ya mean by that??? if you fill your tank every time, you know exactly how much gas you used between each fill up. it doesnt matter one bit the shape of the container, just how much it took to refill it. hell, you can drive for 20 miles after a fill up, refill up and still get a mileage reading... the longer you go in between fill ups just makes that mileage calculation more accurate.
as far as 28 mpg.. ****... i've been gettin good mileage reacently and i only get like 23-24 with my 5 speed 3.4... and thats cruising country roads at 65 most of the time...

Oohh, sorry for the long response time, I haven't checked this column out lately....Anyway, peeeot in response to your question 32.2MPG is for the highway on my car. I would guess city has to be around 23+ or so. I would say the K&N Intake plus my FlowMaster 40's have done the blunt of the work. Even now, driving my car like a mad man going 115MPH, flooring it at red lights and stop signs, burning rubber and all that other crazy stuff, the lowest it has done is 25.3 MPG. Really truly though, I think that unlocking the mileage lies within the vehicles PCM (computer). My previous Computer was faulty and when I had it replaced, there was an immediate power gain and performance feel, as well as extra mileage. Hope this helps, and sorry it took so long to get back to you on this.

94fbody--no problem about the delay.. for some reason this site has failed to load for the past 24 hours or so anyway. And I appreciate your response. How did you know your previous computer was faulty?

My PCM was determined to be faulty after I discovered it was throwing no codes whenever the SES light would come on, and it's NOT supposed to do that without throwing diagnostic trouble codes! Advice from others said the same thing, PCM faulty-replace. So, I replaced it and felt immediate gains in power and take-off, car also ran smoother and idled better, the temperature also stays much lower now. Oh yeah, the first time I was actually able to burn rubber from WOT going straight from a dead stop was after getting my new PCM, if that says anything.

Would the SES light come on and stay on as long as the car was on, or would it stay on for a couple minutes, then turn off? I'm trying to find a way to check my car for codes but in the mean time I'm trying to guess at what might be tripping my SES light from time to time when everything seems to work exactly as it's supposed to. Maybe I have a faulty PCM too.

Ditto. You can expect as much as 10%. 3oz per 10 gallons. I did it on a long trip, one regular tank up, then filled up and added 5 onces of Acetone, and I got over 10% increase.... 36MPG vs 31MPG with go fast mods.

bad tuning, old parts, not enough air in tires, bad driver, etc, = can make bad gas mileage

who would want to put shiznit in their gas tank?

Peeot, my SES light came on then and continues to come on now and it generally stays on. Sometimes it will go out all by itself after a long drive. My SES light is EGR related and it still says EGR Solenoids 1,2,3 are to blame, and I concurr. I'll soon have that baby fixed though heh heh. Just hold on before you swap your PCM though, get your codes checked first, you may need new O2 sensors, plugs, MAP/MAF sensor, Air Temp Sensor, or anything in between. PCM's are about $125 where I got mine, so just have the codes read first and go from there. See'ya.

I also get around 20mpg in the city...and I drive like a bat out of hell.

Maybe someone should put the tornado in the gas tank to see if it could circulate the fuel through the fuel line in a spiral motion to make the it ignite easier. LMFAO!
