    Re: VE tuning questions/problems

We don't have ls1 pcms. There's more money to be made by
developing for the ls1 cars than there is for the v6 cars. We're
    stuck with what we've got.

For FI, we use the maf to get us as far as possible then use
    the PE tables.

You've gotten the same replies on both forums. Maybe you
should give the ideas a shot.

      Re: VE tuning questions/problems

I just dont see how setting the PE even lower is a good idea.

Like for instance (and maybe I'm not fully understanding), but I am commanding 12.5 at WOT, but only getting 13.5 actual...you are suggesting that I command 11.5 instead?

Over time, will the computer not eventually correct itself so that it is commanding 11.5? The computer has a learn factor to it as well...so for awhile the computer will command 12.5, but it will see that it will always be "short" and need to add more fuel, so slowly it should start adding more fuel no?

Also, it was suggested that my LTFT's may be causing this to happen as they are suggesting to pull fuel? I have the car set in OL, I have forgot to hit "reset fuel trims" on a few tuning runs, how can I go about shutting LTFT's off so that it does not interfere with these scans?

        Re: VE tuning questions/problems

The LTFT's need to be locking in at 0 when you're WOT. Reset
them. In open loop they shouldn't be affecting anything, but
        there's always a possibility.

What are they locking in at now?

          Re: VE tuning questions/problems

well the guy that was looking at the scan on hp tuners took a snapshot of them at -11.7 at idle, at 100% throttle it goes from -14 at 3467rpm to 0 at 5904 RPM..

EDIT: When I look at previous logs where I did remember to reset the fuel trims (I.E the one right before the one I posted) at 100% throttle the LTFT is at 0 the whole time.

              Re: VE tuning questions/problems

well I put the PE table to command 12.0 instead of 12.5, and I am getting around 12.6 actual afr at WOT...I still don't get why I have numbers that are 200% in the ve table??

and what do the numbers in the VE table mean...like I have 200%, what is 200%?

                Re: VE tuning questions/problems

VE will only top out at like 140 or so anything above is a waste,VE is only used when the maf sensor is bad or unpluged and the map sensor is used , I think it is , Let me read this other tunning guide I printed up. And I'll correct my post if I'm wrong, and post the info for it.

                  Re: VE tuning questions/problems

I dont mean I am maxed going left to right...I mean the actual value in the table itself cannot be higher then 200%, I dont hit 140kpa because I am not boosted.

I NEED to tune VE because of the Itbs, I will no longer be running a Maf

Sorry , I forget your running Itbs, so I have no idea then, good luck.

                      Re: VE tuning questions/problems

lol...does anyone know what the numbers in the VE table represent? They are in forms of %, I can't seem to find an answer on any of the forums...

Also, is there ANY speed density maps that we can use? I.e, on hp tuners help page it talks about a 1 bar NA enhanced map for speed density. Can we use this? Is there any changes we can make with our operating system?

I hear some of the GTP's use 2 bar maps from factory...do we not have GTP pcms?

                        Re: VE tuning questions/problems

Just use a GTP map sensor , when the RK sport setup came out , it came with a 2 bar map sensor wired inline with the TRC-1 (to decrease timing as boost came up). Might be a option. We don't have GTP PCMs but there is support for them even in our pcms.

No we don't have gtp pcms.

Ask the hptuner reps your questions. They can answer them
                          better than we can.

                            Re: VE tuning questions/problems

Ok so according to Hp tuners support the numbers in the VE table represent theoretical cylinder fill while in SD mode.

And 200% is a hardcoded limit in the pcm.

So, anyone want to take a stab at how/why my car could possibly be taking in more then 200% cylider fill at WOT?

Better yet, could I possibly have a bad Map sensor? How would I know if the Map sensor is bad?

The map is reading 100kpa at WOT, it's fine.

So Ive been upping all my AE tables...I have the TPS delta maxed at 4, I have the ECT vs run AE table maxed at 4...I'm at 10.5 out of 16 in my baro table...I seem to be seeing progress in my 100kpa WOT table, but only up to about 4200 or 4800 rpm...after that its like I am always 8% shy of fuel, and I am at 200% VE in those cells...why is it that my lower rpms are seeing changes from increased AE numbers, but the higher rpms are not being effected really?

should I be disabling that filter thing?
