Any motor work done to it? I want to do something similar; how about posting up a list of everything that needs to be changed?
No motor work, just headers and deleted emissions stuff. as for a list ? most people will never do it. For the handfull of people that actually buy an motor and do it; i would be more than happy to assist. Every yr is different so my stuff might be different from somone elses.
Quickly,
Leave fuel system alone, its fine
get ls1 k, steering rack
Suspension is fine, ls1 weighs about the same as the 3.8 believe it or not.
Torque arm mount is different, need ls1
Ls1 radiator, the v6 one only has 1 nipple, ls1 has 2
corvette fuel filter/Reg it has a built in return line as the ls1 rail does not
Obviously exhaust, if you think you current setup will work dont even think about the swap
Trans, again with above, if you have to ask dont try it.
Ls1 harness and pcm, You must modify the wiring to work, took me a week to do.
Some sort of intake elbow, coupler for maf and filter
Ls1 non tcs throttle cable, the v6 one will not work.
Thats basically what i needed for my 97 using a 00 motor.

and your camaro is an older one. non98+. This just proves they do fit alright.. It doesn't look THAT cramped in there like some were saying it would be. your steering column wasn't an issue was it? some were saying it would because of the room that doesnt exist.
so every year motor is different. I didnt know that. And the springs (stock for V6) will work just fine?
time to sell some things, pull some student loan money aside and purchase a motor.
You dont have to explain, but what do ya mean when you had to rework the harness? Just a quickie on the explanation. lol
did the v8 gauges plug right in and work?
98 is a crazy year, i would stay away unless u have a 98 maro already. 99+ ls1 is the same. The v6 cars are what i was talking about different.
Rework harness i mean our cars for example : Pcm power is under the dashboard on the pass side. On the ls1 it is in the connectors on the fender. You must move it to work.
Stock 120mph cluster works fine. Tach is slightly off, need to retune it but its not that bad

used a ls1 rack and linkage. a stock lt1 linkage would hit the header. I am not sure if in 98 the 3.8 came with a better linkage. Prob better to just grab the ls1 one.
people that say it wont fit are for lack of a better word - idiots. They never seen, tried or heard of it. You cant really use a lid of a 93-97 because our hoods narrow down
I have no reason to believe v6 springs will not work. ITs not like i am autocrossing. The motors weigh close to the same. I guess if you have some xtra cash throw them on because its easier at the time. If not then no big deal. My goal was to get the job done and running without buying un-neccesary parts.
Money doesnt grow on trees here on Lond island lol. If i dont need it or want it i am not buying it. Its very easy during the swap to get carried away with the "While i'm in there let me buy...."
For a while i was thinking cam, then i said to myself "what the hell is the matter with you" ?
just FYI, if you have a 98+ and you get a motor/wire harnes/pcm from the same year vehicle, there is no reworking of the wiring harness. Also, if you have a 99+, you will have to get new pedals. Our cars are an electronic assembly and the ls1s are mechanical. 00+ most do have the correct tq arm (not 100% sure on this).
This isn't a complete list for the newer ones, but you probabyl should put aside a couple hundred for misc. parts. Also, even though the fuel system is almost 100% the same, I believe the ls1 pumps do have a higher flow rate. I'm not 100% sure on this, but they do have different p/n at autozone. Hope this helps
Car expresses who you are. If you have a ****ty car, you must be a ****ty person;)

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/995979
the spring rates are a little stiffer, i belive the ls1 is right around 200 lbs +/- a few pounds heaver than the 3.8.
personally, id get ls1 springs, but thats just me.

so how about a write up when your done... Did you remember to take photos during the process??? I figure if I save for the next 1.5 years, I can get a good low mileage LS1, tranny, and what nots. Dont ya have to change your rear end aswell?
Hello every one, ozzy here ive been looking at this page for weeks now finally joined. So my question is why is it that every turbo build forum just ends...
Just ordered some Toyo 315/35/17 tires for my 17x11 rims. Hopefully I can get them on the beginning of next year. Will post pics.
