Re: my car on the dyno

I was thinking about dynoing my car for the hell of it, even though its stock with 191,000 miles. A local shop is having a dyno day, 3 pulls for $50. But I will likely not make it in time because of class.

not in the long run.. when you have a super charger, or turbo, you are always getting performance from them.. not just a few seconds here and there.

(and yes, i know how they both work, and i do understand that turbos dont give you power untill the rpms get higher)

Re: my car on the dyno

I would have to go through about 65 bottles of nitrous before it would equal the price of a turbo, lol....so your "long-run" must be a REALLY long run, lol.

That would be about 500 full 1/4 mile runs in a 100 shot.

Depends on how much of the work you can do yourself. Small used turbos can be had for $50 (sometimes less) and a rebuilt kit is about $100 ea. I used an ebay turbo for a bit, and it worked fine - it was a few hundred delivered. Too bad I'm not a good tuner :(. That's about to change once the MegaSquirt is installed :)

Do people drive under full boost 100% of the time?

no, but do superchargers give you power 100% of the time?

Not full power, so during normal driving I dont mind not having a power-adder on the car as I am not racing it.
