Re: I'm about to give up.please help!!!!

I think when you buy a new one it is already balanced for the rotating assembly.

After you shave a used one down though it is not balanced anymore therefore you would have to balance it with your rotating assembly.

The flywheel is already balanced , and the engine is already a balanced rotating assembly. I bolted a new one on from GM and it was good to go, but you do need new bolts and TQ them down right. The crankshaft is already balanced , if it is out of balance say do to a bad balancer then it would be out of balance, thats why for a 96' car to use a 97' balancer it has to be reprogramed for the crank sensor and cam sensor to know what RPM signal its spinning at, so its sent to the PCM.

i got a new flywheel instead, weights exactly the same as the old one,so i guess the old one was never resurfaced but i have a bad feeling the vibration is still gonna be there, ahh one step at a time

Re: I'm about to give up.please help!!!!

OK guys,Sitrep. I replaced the clutch, flywheel, slave and the car still has the vibration,it doesn't seem as bad,but all the work i did wasn't for nothing because the slave i had wasn't to good and now the car goes into gear good and the stage 1 clutch is pretty cool, weird though cause the pedal is pretty soft and springy but it works, now back to the problem of the vibration,im gonna change the motor mounts since they are the original and they are pretty cheap and see from there,if that doesn't help then i can swap a PCM and see if that makes a difference, or the last would be the balancer,if not someone can come to Florida and take my camaro,,,,,,well mabe not but you get the idea.(btw the clutch is Gripforce F1 clutch stage 1)

Could it be a broken motor mount, cross brace, bad timing, or a loose/broken crank pulley?

I ate a bowl of fail this morning.

the car has 134000 miles but the motor has about 30k to 50k and i think the old mount were used when the new motor when in,i wasn't there at the time or i would have put new ones

If the mounts don't do it you should seriously consider having it diagnosed at a shop and then you could fix it yourself if you wanted. You're spending money on shots in the dark. For the cost of a pcm a shop should be able to diagnose it for you.

Let us know. I had a similar problem about a year and a half ago and it would up being a broken motor mount

It's not that expensive, and it beats wasting all this time and perhaps throwing money at things that are totally unrelated to the problem.

true but im pretty sure a scan at the dealership will cost more than $20 motor mounts
